TOP ENTRY Ball Valves
Vimec Valves produces Top Entry Ball Valves in accordance with API 6D in soft & metal seatingensures in-line field service and maintenance by removing the valve top cover and allowing free access to the cavity of the body. A series of special maintenance tools allows you to remove the ball and seats. This maintenance requires a very little space around the valve and therefore suitable for areas with space constraints. The special design allows the replacement of the shaft seal when the valve is in the closed position.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a trunnion mounted and a floating ball valve?
In a trunnion-mounted design the ball is fixed top and bottom, so pressure is carried by the trunnion rather than the seats — suited to larger sizes and higher pressures (Vimec: ½" to 8", API 3000-10,000). A floating ball valve allows the ball to move slightly downstream under line pressure to energize the seat, and is typically used at smaller sizes and lower-to-mid pressures (Vimec: ½" to 8", ANSI 800#-2500#).
What is a top entry ball valve used for?
Top entry ball valves allow the ball and seats to be serviced in-line, through the top cover, without removing the valve from the pipeline — ideal for large-bore lines (Vimec: 2" to 36") or installations with limited space for valve removal.
When should I specify a metal seated ball valve?
Metal seated ball valves (Vimec: Tungsten Carbide, Stellite or Ni60 overlay, ½" to 24") are specified for abrasive service, high-differential-pressure applications, or temperatures beyond the working range of soft seat materials.
What standards do Vimec ball valves meet?
ANSI B16.34, API 6D, API 6A and API 608 design; API 598/API 6D testing; API 607/6FA/ISO 10497 fire safe; NACE MR-0175 sour service material compliance.
Where are Vimec valves manufactured?
Entirely designed, engineered and manufactured at our facility in Bolgare, Bergamo, Italy.
What quality certifications does Vimec hold?
ISO 9001:2015, PED Directive 2014/68/EU, API 6D, Fire Safe, Fugitive Emission ISO 15848-1, ATEX and ACHILLES.
